President-elect Donald Trump joked about taking over Canada on Tuesday, following reports that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made the joke during a weekend visit.
Prime Minister Trudeau spoke at Mar-a-Lago, Florida, after President Trump threatened to impose 25% tariffs on products from Canada and Mexico unless they cooperated in securing the U.S. border from illegal immigration and fentanyl. I visited the official residence.
According to anonymous reports, President Trump reportedly joked that if Trudeau didn't like the idea, Canada could avoid the tariffs by becoming the 51st state with Trudeau as governor.
