Boeing will issue layoff notices to more than 100 employees across Florida starting in January 2025, according to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act letter.
Sites include Titusville, where Boeing plays an important role in the aerospace industry, and the Kennedy Space Center. The company spent more than $1 billion with Florida suppliers in 2023, underscoring its economic influence in the region.
In a statement to the Orlando Business Journal, Boeing said the job cuts were due to the need to “align workforce levels with financial realities and a more focused set of priorities.”
Boeing announced in October that it would cut about 17,000 employees, who are scheduled to retire in mid-January. The layoffs were made in response to a union strike and represent 10% of the company's workforce.

Boeing told FOX Business in October that it was “adjusting our workforce levels to align with our financial realities and a more focused set of priorities.”
CEO Kelly Ortberg said in an Oct. 23 statement that the company is “at a crossroads.”
He said he had lost confidence in the company and was saddled with excessive debt. Still, he foresaw big opportunities ahead, including a backlog of about $5 trillion and a “necessary customer base.”[s] us and need[s] for us to succeed. ”

Boeing, which has more than 170,000 employees worldwide and 2,348 in Florida, has faced financial pressure in recent years. For the first nine months of fiscal 2024, the company reported revenue of $51.28 billion, down from $55.78 billion in the same period in 2023.
