Good Samaritan Rescues Baby Girls Left in Ditch After Car Was Stolen

A good Samaritan rescued two baby girls whose car had been stolen and abandoned in a ditch near their home in Indiana.

Indianapolis Police notified the public just before 11 a.m. Monday that a silver Hyundai Sonata with a 4-month-old baby girl and a 5-month-old baby girl in the back seat had been stolen. NBC affiliate station WTHR in Indianapolis reported.

About 20 minutes after posting about the theft on social media, police announced to the public that the infant in the car had been located.

A good Samaritan reportedly discovered the infant when he went outside to retrieve his belongings. He asked to remain anonymous but said the incident happened on his birthday.

The man saw the children left in a ditch and in the cold in car seats, took them inside and called 911, according to the report.

Police later confirmed that the girls were the same girls who went missing from the stolen vehicle. The car was found near where the infant was in the 1300 block of Riley Avenue, the report said.

Police spokesman William Young told the outlet they could not be more grateful to the good Samaritans who intervened.

“It's cold in here. Who knows what would have happened if this person hadn't been outside,” he said.

Police are still investigating the theft charges. No arrests have been made yet.
