President-elect Donald Trump said Sunday on NBC's “Meet the Press” that he has “no choice” but to deport everyone who is in the U.S. illegally and, in some cases, family members of U.S. citizens. He also said he could be deported.
President Trump said of mass deportations: “We start with the criminals, and we have to do it.” And I'm going to start with the others and see how it goes. ”
Host Kristen Welker said, “Who else?”
“Strangers are other than criminals. We convicted murderers,” Trump said.
“Let me ask you about another group, the estimated 4 million families with mixed immigrant status in the United States. So, I'm talking about parents who may be in the country illegally,” Welker said. We're talking about kids being here legally.”
“We don't want to separate families. So the only way to keep families apart is to keep them together and send them all back,” Trump said.
Furthermore, he added: That's very difficult. It is — but there have to be rules, regulations, laws. They entered the country illegally. You know, the people who are being treated very unfairly are the people who have been denied entry for 10 years. ”
