The Great American State Fair Returns to D.C.
The Great American State Fair has kicked off in Washington, D.C., offering a vibrant mix of rodeos, aerial displays, and plenty of patriotic spirit—just about a week ahead of the country’s 250th anniversary celebrations.
This extensive event officially opened on Wednesday evening, highlighted by a message from President Trump.
“In just ten days, we’ll celebrate 250 years of American freedom and an incredibly significant moment in history,” said Trump. He referenced the Founding Fathers in Philadelphia back in 1776, who, with the Declaration of Independence, made a lasting impact. “They declared that we are endowed by our Creator with the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness,” he added. “All of us were made to be free and equal, and that’s a truth we all recognize.”
The Great American State Fair has been labeled a “modern-day World’s Fair,” showcasing what makes America stand out. With 150 exhibits representing all 56 states and territories, the fair displays everything from state pavilions and industry exhibits to family activities, film screenings, live music, military performances, spectacular flyovers, and the iconic Ferris wheel on the National Mall.
The event features daily themes, such as “Land and Prosperity” and “Faith, Values, and Inspiration.” Social media videos are giving glimpses of what to expect over these 16 days. One pilot who participated in the inaugural aerial display shared a cockpit view, expressing gratitude for the experience.
He reflected, “Thank you, America, for everything you are and will become. I’ll share more about that later. A special shoutout to my college roommate, Joe Pitts, for his support. God bless America, and may the republic thrive.”
Various videos and images are emerging, highlighting different activities throughout the fair, including Rodeo 250, which explores the evolution of the American Cowboy, tracing back to the Spanish vaquero traditions and up to modern rodeo competitions in the nation’s heart.
Certain companies are also showcasing state exhibits across the National Mall.
The fair is set to run until Friday, July 10, culminating with the theme “The Next 250.”
