Pelicans’ injury hell gets worse with Brandon Ingram out indefinitely

The Pelicans have a string of hits, but they will reportedly be without star Brandon Ingram indefinitely.

The one-time NBA All-Star and 2020 Most Valuable Player suffered a severe low ankle sprain that will likely require lengthy surgery. Per ESPN.

This combined with an injury-plagued season for the Pelicans, who currently have the worst record in the Western Conference at 5-19 after Saturday's loss to the Thunder.

Ingram left Saturday's game between the Pelicans and the Thunder with an ankle injury.

He was sent off after only 19 minutes of play and finished the night with just five points.

For the season, Ingram is averaging 22.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game while shooting 46.5 percent from the field, 37.4 percent from 3-point range and 85.5 percent from free throws.

After playing 18 games, Ingram has already missed six more games on the year.

This follows the recent returns of starting guards Dejounte Murray and CJ McCollum.

McCollum was sidelined after playing four games with a thigh injury, but returned on November 25th.

Murray, who suffered a broken hand in the season opener on November 27, returned to action after McCollum's return.

Star forward Zion Williamson has been limited to six games this season with a hamstring injury and will undergo re-examination later this month.
