Democrats Beg Joe Biden to Commute Sentences of Death Row Inmates

Democrats on Capitol Hill are threatening President Joe Biden, who is scheduled to leave office next month, with federal agents including the Boston Marathon bombers, child killers, mass shooters and prisoners convicted of brutally murdering women. They are pleading for the death sentences of 40 inmates to be commuted.

“Today, on Human Rights Day, we call on President Biden to do the right thing. Use his pardon power to commute the death sentences of 40 death row inmates, turn their wrath into prison sentences, and save lives. to save,” Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.) said at a news conference.

“State-sanctioned murder is not justice,” Pressley continued. “The death penalty is a cruel, racist and fundamentally flawed form of punishment that has no place in our society.”

Pressley also accused President-elect Donald Trump's first administration of conducting “executions” to carry out death row inmates in federal prisons.

Similarly, Rep. Cori Bush (R-Missouri) said that because the “overwhelming majority of death row inmates are black and brown,” the death penalty is “most often used as a weapon against the most vulnerable.” “This is a barbaric and inhumane act.”

President Bush said, “President Biden has the power to save lives.''

Among the death sentences that Pressley and Bush are asking Biden to commute is that of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who was convicted of aiding and abetting the Boston Marathon bombings that killed three people. Daniel Troya was found guilty of drug-related murders of his family, including two children. Marvin Gabrion was found guilty of kidnapping and murdering 19-year-old Rachel Timmerman. Robert Bowers was found guilty of murdering 11 Jewish Americans at a synagogue in Pennsylvania. and Brandon Basham, who was convicted of raping and murdering 44-year-old Alice Donovan, among others.
