Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced that state employees will receive three additional days of vacation this month.
“In addition to Christmas and New Year's Day, state employees will receive three additional days off on December 23, 24 and 31 to spend more time with their families and loved ones this holiday season.” the governor declared in a post. X.
According to a press release from the governor's office, all state government offices will be closed for the next five days.

“Florida is in great shape and we want to reward our state employees,” DeSantis said in a press release. “After a full year that included three costly hurricanes, we hope this additional time off will allow state employees to spend more time with their families and loved ones this holiday season. .”
Last month, “state employees were laid off on Nov. 27,” the day before Thanksgiving, Dan Barrow of the Florida Department of Administrative Services confirmed to Fox News Digital in an email Wednesday.
The department's website lists nine dates that will be “considered paid leave by state agencies” in 2024, including New Year's Day, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday, and Memorial Day. DeSantis announced last year that state offices would be closed on Nov. 22, Dec. 26, Dec. 29, and Jan. 2, in addition to normal closures during the holiday period, according to a November 2023 press release. did.
