A new survey shows that a majority of Americans, especially young people between the ages of 18 and 29, are dissatisfied with their current pay.
Pew Research Center surveyed 5,274 U.S. workers in early October. research showed Only 30% of Americans feel satisfied with their current pay, down 4 points from last year. The majority of dissatisfaction (80%) stemmed from workers saying their wages were not keeping up with rising costs of living, or inflation.
“Our data paint a mixed picture of the U.S. workforce. Most workers are satisfied with their job security, but only half are very satisfied overall. And even fewer are very satisfied with their pay,” said Ruona Lin, a Pew researcher. washington post.
On the youth side, 57 percent of workers between the ages of 18 and 29 expressed dissatisfaction with their pay. For workers over 65, the situation was almost the opposite.
