Hohoi!
A Massachusetts man was trapped inside a chimney Tuesday night in an unsuccessful attempt to contact Old St. Nick, trying to escape from police.
Fall River Police Department officers attempted to raid a man's home on Canal Street in a small New England town, only to be led on a Christmas goose chase.
When officers knocked on the front door, they saw two men fleeing the house through the roof. According to 10WJAR.
One jumped off the roof, and the other, Robert Langrias, jumped down the chimney in a maneuver apparently inspired by Father Christmas.
“[One man] He summoned the essence of the symbol of the season and tried to hide inside the chimney,” police said in a statement. “[He] He soon becomes trapped in the chimney and requires the help of a detective who had previously escaped. ”
body camera footage Video shared by police shows the moment a responding officer climbed onto the roof and confronted Langrias, who was deep inside the flue.
“You're an idiot,” a police officer with a flashlight says as the camera pans to Langrias, 33, stuck at the base of the chimney.
Officers confirmed that the suspect was indeed stuck, but called on the fire department to come and rescue the would-be Santa Claus.
“Get me out of here, brother!” Langrias yelled at the same officer he tried to hide from, according to the footage.
The video shows firefighters dismantling the chimney one by one from inside the house as Langrias waits helplessly to be rescued.
Police said, “Langrias felt like Santa, so he was taken to a local hospital as a precautionary measure and is now medically cleared.''
The other wanted suspect jumped from the roof onto a car before police could arrest him, crashing into the car and is still on the run.
Langrias is charged with possession of a Class A drug, possession of a Class B drug, and a series of charges based on outstanding warrants.
Tanisha Ibey, 32, also faces class A and class B drug possession charges stemming from the incident, after she was arrested at the facility without much fanfare.
