Ohio State athletic director ‘absolutely’ confident Ryan Day will return next season

Ohio State is hosting a College Football Playoff game, but the Buckeyes aren't necessarily coming into the game with strong momentum.

Their most recent game was easily their most disappointing yet, with an upset at home to unranked Michigan.

The Buckeyes entered the game as a three-touchdown favorite, but the Wolverines had won four straight in this matchup after Ohio State won 15 of 16.

The calls for Ryan Day to be fired are louder than ever, and have been significantly louder since last year. But he doesn't seem to be going anywhere.

“Coach's Day is great,” Ohio State athletic director Ross Bjork said on 97.1 The Fan. “He's great to work with. He totally gets it. He loves being a Buckeye, so we're going to support him at the highest level.”

Bjork added that he is “absolutely” confident Day will return to the Ohio State sideline in 2025.

“The season is not over. It's not decided,” he added.

Ohio State, ranked No. 2 in the nation at the time, lost 13-10 to Michigan, and Day's consecutive timeouts gave the Wolverines an advantage. Since joining Ohio State, Day is 1-4 against the Wolverines and has only lost six other games during his tenure.

Now they have their sights set on the Tennessee Volunteers and a national championship.
