'Yellowstone' star Luke Grimes isn't 'pointing fingers,' but filming the final episode of season 5 without Kevin Costner was a breath of fresh air.

“I hope everyone understands that the time has come,” Grimes said of Costner's exit.

“Honestly, there was a part of me where Kevin being gone meant that some of the conflict was gone. Obviously, it's not like we weren't a lot of fun to be around. I don't blame them, but… “It was actually the easiest season for us to shoot,” he continued.

“I don't mean to point anything out, but it was actually the easiest season we've ever shot.”
The series finale of “Yellowstone” will air on December 15th. According to Grimes, it was “good timing” for the show to end after seven years on the air.
“Seven years is a long time to do something. I've never played a character for more than a few months. I loved every minute of it. But when I read the last episode, there were parts of me that felt the same way. “There is,” he said, “and we know there's a finality to it.”

Grimes, who plays Casey Dutton on the show, spoke about the possibility of a future spin-off.
“There's always talk of a spinoff. I would do that.” [but] “I just don't understand what happens when the story ends,” Grimes said, adding, “Kase wants to be a cowboy and be happy with his family.
“He doesn't want to kill people anymore. He doesn't want the weight of a giant mega-ranch, which is unsustainable in today's day and age. He wants his own little piece of heaven. It's that simple. .”

From the beginning, the show's creator, Taylor Sheridan, intentionally withheld Grimes from seeing the ending.

“From the beginning, Taylor said to me, 'I know how the show ends, but I don't want you to know how it ends,'” he said. “If it were you, you'd play differently.'' [if you knew the ending]And I don't want you to know anything. ”
“So, with that in mind, I wanted to read the book until we filmed the last episode. But it's been so long since filming that I feel like I don't remember what we did. I did. I didn't remember how to play Casey, I couldn't lock in.

“I thought, “If I read the last book, it will definitely be useful.'' Then I read it, and I could completely relate to the story again, and I couldn't imagine it ending any other way.'' Grimes said.

In an interview with Esquire, Grimes explained that he's not the biggest Yellowstone fan at this point.

“I want to love this show and I believe I will someday, but it was kind of difficult because I was still on it,” Grimes said. “I'd like to just take a few years to clean out the palette, and then I'll start everything over again.”
