Isaiah Hartenstein claimed he would not have allowed Trae Young to celebrate with a Knicks logo at the Garden during the Hawks' NBA Cup quarterfinal victory on Wednesday.
Here's Jalen Brunson's answer:
“Isaiah isn't here,” the Knicks captain said after practice Saturday.
Young, a Knicks villain dating back to the 2021 playoffs, stopped in front of the Knicks logo in the final seconds of a Hawks victory, picked up fake dice and rolled them as if he were playing craps in Las Vegas. .
Hartenstein spent the past two seasons with the Knicks before signing with the Thunder this offseason. If he were still Nick, he told reporters.“I wouldn't have let him roll the dice at midcourt. I would have done something. I've always loved New York.”
Brunson reiterated that the Knicks' biggest mistake was letting the Hawks win without letting Young celebrate.
“Is there a problem? Yeah, but he won and they won,” Brunson said. “So why would you put in all the fake, fake energy to do something like that when you could have done that to win the game? That's just my opinion.”
A recent ESPN report listed Mitchell Robinson's timeline for returning from left ankle surgery as early as late January or February.
That was news for coach Tom Thibodeau.
“I haven't heard anything like that,” Thibodeau said. “He's following the protocols, going step by step, and when he's ready, he's ready. He's feeling good, but he hasn't been cleared to practice yet. Once he's cleared to practice. , we'll have a better idea of the timeline. But we're going to be patient and let him get through it. He has a lot of steps to clear first.”
Ariel Hukporti (left ankle sprain) has been able to practice “a little bit,” Thibodeau said.
He will remain sidelined against the Magic on Sunday night.
