Feds to deploy high-tech system to NY as drone swarms have experts baffled

Federal authorities will deploy a high-tech drone detection system to New York state as swarms of unidentified flying objects continue to appear in the tri-state area, baffling experts.

Gov. Cathy Hochul said Sunday that the drone will help state and local law enforcement investigate mysterious drones that have been seen flickering in the night sky over the past month.

“In response to my call for additional resources, our federal partners are deploying state-of-the-art drone detection systems to New York State,” Hochul said.

Despite the push, Hochul said additional support from Congress is needed to provide more resources.

“We are grateful for the support of the Biden Administration, but ultimately we need more support from Congress. By passing the UAS Authorization Security, Safety, and Reauthorization Act, we are calling on New York State and its peers today to “It will give us the powers and resources we need to respond to situations like the one we are facing,” she said.
