Belleville, N.J., Mayor Michael Melham told Fox 5's “Good Day New York” Tuesday that a mysterious drone flying over the state may be looking for missing radioactive material.
“Information is slow to come out, and in my opinion this lack of transparency is only fueling conspiracy theories online,” Melham said.
He continued, “I know we've been told by state police that there are assets in critical infrastructure. Now, depending on your point of view, that's either concerning or comforting. Maybe. I think that's comforting because we're the ones listening and seeing. We also know that there are drones that fly in a grid pattern. In my opinion, they're looking for something. I think there are. What are they looking for? Well, potentially, we have a port. We're aware of a threat coming in through Newark. It could be radioactive material. There was an alert on December 2nd that radioactive material was missing in New Jersey. It was shipped. It arrived at its destination. The container was damaged and empty.
He added: “It was lost in transit in New Jersey, but again, this is just one example of what we're sniffing out.” I think we have assets that can rise and fly and smell. That's why we don't see the kind of increases we saw in Belleville anymore. It's kind of touching, but we're seeing the warning and it's happening in Pennsylvania right now. ”
Melham concluded: “That's the crazy thing about this. And even yesterday's call with the White House gave us very little information. Literally, the mayors were told, 'You guys are looking at things.' This has no credibility. As I mentioned earlier, one mayor was flying a drone over his home. In other words, we are no longer going to put up with not hearing the truth. So the state government is failing us. They're not getting answers from the federal government. They told us yesterday that there is nothing to see here today, but there is a secret meeting in Congress. What are they being told? Didn't you say that yesterday? ”
