Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers has responded to the Madison Christian School shooting, reportedly claiming that “kids can't go to school safely.”
FOX News quotation “It's unfortunate that things like this continue,” Rivers said.
He added: “Kids can't go to school safely and we don't seem to be doing anything about it. I'm not going to get up on this podium here and give a long speech. It's just that it's terrible. Except. We're thinking about them.”
On November 7, 2018, Yahoo Sports quoted Rivers in response to the mass shooting in Thousand Oaks, California that left 12 people dead. I'm saying“It just pisses me off when people say, 'Maybe it wasn't a terrorist attack.' If it was your child, you'd think it was a terrorist attack. Guns are terrorists, and it's important to understand that. Until then, we will continue to carry out terrorist attacks.”
Rivers did not mention that gun-toting guards and police are part of the security that surrounds and protects NBA games every night. He also failed to note that background checks for gun sales in the United States have exceeded 1 million per month for 64 consecutive months.
In other words, gun ownership is important to Americans.
NBA ratings have fallen 48% over the past 12 years, and “on ESPN they're down 28% this year alone.” According to Daily Mail.
Sports analyst Colin Cowherd said of the decline in viewership: Remember, there is a price to pay when you move away from ordinary people in America. ”
