Police Apprehend Man Who Allegedly Shot GA State Police K-9

Troy Williams, 51, arrested on suspicion of firing at police officers and firing at a Georgia State Police K-9, WSB-TV reported on friday.

State troopers took Williams away Wednesday for a “concealed license plate.” Williams handed the officer his driver's license and took off, and a chase ensued.

Williams claimed that at one point he fired at pursuing officers and then fled on foot into the woods. One of Williams' gunshots allegedly struck K-9 Amor in the leg.

The Georgia Department of Public Safety said Amor survived, but his recovery will take several months.

Newnan Times Herald noticed Grantville, Ga., Mayor Richard Proctor said Friday that Williams was found hiding inside a truck.

The man was armed with a gun, but did not resist and was arrested without incident.

Surveillance footage from a neighborhood grocery store in Grantville shows Williams at the store Thursday night, where he purchased “shifts, knit hats, scarves and Gatorade.”
