Man burned to death on NYC subway train

Police are searching for a suspect after a horrifying and disturbing crime in which a woman was set on fire and burned to death on a subway train in Brooklyn, New York, on Sunday.

The incident happened around 7:30 a.m. at the Stilwell Avenue subway station in Coney Island, the New York City Police Department (NYPD) said.

Police said the woman was asleep on the stopped F train.

Police said an unknown man approached the woman and set her on fire before exiting the subway car.

Emergency services pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

A horrifying video posted online shows a woman standing inside a train engulfed in flames. A man matching the suspect's description was seen sitting on a bench just outside the train, watching the woman burn.

Police are searching for a man described as 5-foot-6, 150 pounds, and approximately 25 to 30 years old.

Police said the suspect was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, a dark beanie hat with a red band and brown boots.

NYPD Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information regarding this incident.
