Florida imam Abu Osama Attabi rejects the influence of Western culture on Muslims, saying today's Christianity is “pagan” and Christians are “infidels” and “not believers.” “Merry Christmas'' or “Have a Happy Holidays.''
In a sermon on Friday, Dec. 20, at Masjid al-Sunnah Mosque and Islamic Center serving the Orlando, Florida area, American-born Abu Usama delivered a scathing critique of Christianity, calling it paganism. While declaring that Muslims are contaminated by the customs of continue to maintain their identity.
“Christians today, Christians you know, and we converts, [to Islam]our relatives, Christians, are pagans,” he claimed.
“It is not a good word to be called pagans. They think they are believers, but they are not believers. [they’re] Infidels,” he added.
The imam declared that “Christianity today is pagan” and denounced Christian traditions, claiming they “have nothing to do” with Jesus.
“The Christians of that time borrowed this Christmas custom from the Greek pagans and made it their own religion,” he said, mocking the idea that Jesus was born on Christmas or was the Son of God.
Abu Usama did not hesitate to speak out against Muslims who adopt these traditions, criticizing those who feel obligated to say “Merry Christmas” or participate in celebrations. Abu Usama has a history of using extreme rhetoric in his sermons.
