When Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers entered Darrell K. Royal Memorial Stadium for the opening game of the inaugural 12-team college football playoffs, he not only represented Texas, but also Trump. He also expressed support for the next president.
Ewers entered the stadium wearing a pinstriped navy blue suit, red tie, and gold tie clip.
Why was it notable that he was wearing a tie clip? Because the clip had “Trump” inscribed on it.
In recent weeks, there has been an outpouring of public support for the president-elect from the sports world. Before the election, San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa interrupted a postgame interview on NBC to reveal a MAGA hat.
In the college football world, Texas Tech kicker Reese Burkhardt showed off in a MAGA shirt after scoring a touchdown with a fake kick.
The president-elect also received a warm welcome at the Army vs. Navy game earlier this month, along with Vice President-elect J.D. Vance and Secretary of Defense nominee Pete Hegseth.
Ewers and the Longhorns defeated the Clemson Tigers 38-24. Texas will next face the Arizona State Sun Devils in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on New Year's Day.
