Jets bring in Greg Joseph as 2024 kicking nightmare continues

The Jets' kicking situation is up in the air.

Is it familiar?

Joseph is the fourth kicker the team has hired this season since Greg Zuerlein suffered a left knee injury and was placed on IR.

Riley Patterson, Spencer Schrader and Carlson were then substitutes.

If Joseph takes a kick on Sunday, he will be the fifth kicker the team has used this season.

“We're going to let these guys play this week and see what happens and then we're going to bring in our best players,” interim coach Jeff Ulbrich said.

He said removing Zuerlein from IR is “definitely part of the conversation.”

Asked if Tour Line is healthy enough to kick again, Ulbrich said: “We'll see how he does. If he feels good and is good for it, then we'll open him up.” spoke. [practice] window. ''

The Jets' last home game against the Bills in Week 6 was Ulbrich's debut as the team's interim head coach.

Robert Saleh had just been fired. On Tuesday, Ulbrich reflected on that game day.

“It was exciting, stressful, overwhelming, fun, all of that,” he said. “I felt every emotion imaginable, but it was vague in many ways. Since then, I feel like I've gotten used to the role and become more comfortable. But certainly that night… It was a whirlwind.”
