Manatee County Sheriff Rick Wells on Thursday stood by a homeowner who fatally shot an intruder, noting that anyone who breaks into a Florida home should “prepare to be shot.”
Breitbart News reports that a homeowner in Bradenton, Florida, shot and killed a suspected intruder Thursday night around 9 p.m. The intruder died Friday morning.
Manatee County Sheriff Wells addressed the incident and was quoted by Fox News as saying: I'm saying,”[The homeowner] Even though something bad was about to happen, he didn't stall. he grabbed a firearm [and] I told my wife to run to a safe place. ”
Wells added, “This is Florida. If you want to break into someone's home, you have to be prepared to get shot.”
The suspected intruder who died was identified as 23-year-old Jorge Nesteban Flores-Toledo, who Fox News said was “from Mexico.”
A second suspected intruder who fled the scene after the homeowner opened fire was identified as an “illegal immigrant from Chile” named Michelle Sotomela. He is charged with armed robbery.
