Quinn Ewers offered $6 million to leave Texas, skip NFL draft

Quinn Ewers is reportedly preparing a huge offer to transfer and stay in college for another year.

On3 Sports reported On Tuesday, an unnamed school entered the transfer portal and is reportedly making a $6 million pitch for the Texas quarterback to take over behind center.

Ewers, who will start for the Longhorns in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals against the Arizona State Sun Devils on New Year's Day, would be widely considered one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2025 class if he enters the NFL Draft.

this month, ESPN's Mel Kiper ranks Ewers was drafted No. 5 behind Colorado's Shedule Sanders, Miami's Cam Ward, Alabama's Jalen Milroe and Georgia's Carson Beck.

If this report is true, this would be an example of brazen tampering, considering Texas is in the middle of the season and Ewers is not in the transfer portal.

The redshirt junior will begin his college career at Ohio State in 2021 before transferring to Texas and becoming a starter next season.

Ewers, who has one year of college eligibility remaining, threw for 2,867 yards and 26 touchdowns this season despite missing two games with an oblique injury.

In mid-December, Texas sports blog Orange Bloods reported that Ewers would enter this spring's NFL Draft, paving the way for current backup Arch Manning to take over the Longhorns' starting quarterback job.

Manning, a redshirt freshman, appeared in nine games, including two starts in place of Ewers, and threw for 939 yards, nine touchdowns, and two interceptions.

Earlier this week, Manning pledged allegiance to Texas ahead of Wednesday's big playoff game.

“I don't really know about the whole window and everything else because I'm not planning on going into the portal or anything,” Arch, Peyton and Eli Manning's nephew, said in an interview published by Rivals on X.
