The Jets' 2024 season continues to have an incredible element.
One of those will be the team using a kicker for the fifth time on Sunday, the most the Jets have ever used in a season and the second-most in NFL history.
Greg Joseph will be kicking for the Jets against the Dolphins, as Greg Zierlein has been placed on injured reserve with a back injury.
Zuerlein just returned from IR with a knee injury before last week's game against Buffalo.
Zerlein did not kick in this game.
Punter Thomas Morstead took the kickoffs, and the Jets scored two points with two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
It's been a crazy season for the Jets at kicker.
Zelllein struggled early this year, making just 9 of 15 field goal attempts.
The Jets placed him on IR in October.
Since then, Riley Patterson, Spencer Schrader and Anders Karlsson have all played for the Jets.
“This is definitely not what we expected,” interim coach Jeff Ulbrich said. “As you think about how this roster was constructed to start this season, there's no doubt that Greg was one of the strengths and he was the guy we relied on in many ways. He won a lot of games here, but unfortunately his health didn't work out.”
Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said the team is preparing to start quarterback Tyler “Snoop” Huntley against the Jets.
Tua Tagovailoa (lower back) had limited practice participants.
Ulbrich said safety Chuck Clark tore his pectoral muscle, which landed him on IR.
“It's just crazy,” Ulbrich said, referring to Clark's torn ACL that cost him the 2023 season. “To be injured twice in a row,” he said. “I know he's very frustrated and with better teammates and better people on this team this wouldn't have happened, so I'm not sure how he handles it. I know he's going to come back better than ever.”
TE Tyler Conklin (calf), CB Sauce Gardner (hamstring), RT Morgan Moses (knee), RG Aliyah Vera-Tucker (ankle), and DT Quinnen Williams (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday. Ta.
