Debbie Dingell (D-Mich.) said there are tariffs that need to be imposed on China and that “manufacturing is a national economic and national security issue. It's an industry and I'm going to work on it.” with them. I've made it clear to our leaders that tariffs are a tool in our toolbox that we need to use. ”

Dingell said: [relevant remarks begin around 4:50] “I'm one of the Democrats who believes that tariffs are a tool in the toolbox. We're not going to use them across the board. And now we have to make sure China doesn't try to invade Mexico and build factories there and bring it in as North American products.”

He added: “I believe that tariffs on China are important in many ways. Manufacturing is an industry that is a national economic and national security issue, and I intend to work with them.” I've made it clear to our leaders that tariffs are a tool in our toolbox that we need to use. ”
