Rumors surrounding Mike Tomlin's future with the Steelers have resurfaced.
Last year, it was unclear whether the longtime coach would return to Pittsburgh. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. “Sunday NFL Countdown” reported that some NFL teams are wondering if they should ask the Steelers if they want to move on from Tomlin.
Schefter added that he doesn't think the Steelers will move on from Tomlin, who won a Super Bowl in his second year with the team.
Tomlin is in his 18th season as head coach of the Steelers, who have never lost a game.
But teams appear interested in the 52-year-old's potential availability, considering the Steelers are limping into the playoffs after losing four straight.
After the team lost to the Bills in the wild card last year, there was widespread speculation that Tomlin's time with the Steelers would be up, as he only has one year left on his contract.
However, Tomlin decided to return and in June received a three-year contract extension through 2027.
The Steelers have remained competitive under Tomlin, but they haven't won a playoff game since reaching the AFC Championship Game eight years ago.
They are struggling to find a replacement for longtime quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, having moved on from 2022 first-round pick Kenny Pickett in just two years.
Pittsburgh brought in Russell Wilson and Justin Fields last offseason, with Fields leading the team to a 4-2 start before Wilson took over as manager after recovering from a calf injury.

The 36-year-old Wilson started his first seven games and won six games, including wins over the playoff-bound Ravens and Commanders, but he lost his place in games against the hapless Giants and Jets. That included wins, including two against the disastrous Browns.
After finishing 10-3, Wilson and the Steelers lost four straight to the Eagles, Ravens, Chiefs, and Bengals, failing to score more than 17 points in any of the games.
