Judge refuses to postpone Trump’s sentencing in New York case

Judge Juan Marchan denied President-elect Donald Trump's motion to delay sentencing in a New York criminal case in which he was found guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records.

Merchan I wrote Monday: “Defendant's motion to stay these proceedings, including the sentencing hearing scheduled for January 10, 2025, is hereby denied.”

“Mr. Trump's legal team moved to block the wrongful conviction.”

The justices announced the date late last week, saying that sentencing Trump at the end of his second term is “less desirable than sentencing him before January 20, 2025.”

Trump was originally scheduled to be sentenced in July, but the date was repeatedly pushed back due to the Supreme Court's ruling on presidential immunity and Trump's victory in the November election.

On Monday, Trump's lawyers Todd Blanche and Emil Bove filed a motion to delay the sentencing date, saying they plan to appeal Marchand's decision to deny his request to dismiss the case. .

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's office asked Marchand to deny President Trump's request for a postponement of sentencing.

“This court has considered the arguments in support of Defendant's complaint and finds that the majority of them are repeats of claims that Defendant has raised many times in the past,” Machan wrote in his rejection.

The judge suggested that Trump would not be sentenced to prison, but instead would be sentenced to “unconditional release.”

Incoming White House communications director Stephen Chan told FOX Digital: “Today, President Trump's legal team moved to block the Manhattan prosecutor's office's unjust conviction in the witch hunt. court decisions, the New York State Constitution, and other established laws.” Precedent dictates that this worthless hoax be dismissed immediately. ”

“The American people elected President Trump with overwhelming authority to demand an immediate end to the political weaponization of our justice system and remaining witch hunts. As President Trump Makes America Great Again, We look forward to uniting our country with the new administration,'' Chong added.

President Trump said of the New York incident: post on social media over the weekend.

“Ultimately, the Biden/Harris Justice Department forced Bragg to make up anything to embarrass Trump. But what the corrupt and completely inconsistent political hack judge did in this sham trial, and now What was going on was even more so. I am still under an unconstitutional gag order that does not allow me to speak about a highly disqualifying conflict of interest for a judge,” Trump wrote.

“In effect [every] Legal scholars and commentators say there are (zero!) cases against me,” he continued, adding, “The judge fabricated the facts and the law. This is no different than any other New York judicial and prosecutorial witch hunt.” That's why companies are fleeing New York, taking millions of jobs and billions of dollars in taxes with them. The legal system is broken and businesses cannot take a chance of getting caught in this quicksand. It's all set up, in this case against my political enemy, me! ! ! ”
