Peter Yarrow, Member Of 1960s Folk Trio Peter, Paul And Mary, Passes At 86

Peter Yarrow, one of the three musicians in the American folk band Peter, Paul and Mary, who rose to musical fame in the 1960s, has reportedly died. He was 86 years old.

A spokesperson for Yarrow confirmed this. guardian He passed away on Tuesday after a four-year battle with bladder cancer, media reported.

“Peter is very weak physically but strong in spirit and his light grows brighter each day,” Bethany said. “We will never let the light die! We love you Peter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Mary Travers, Paul Stookey, and Yarrow were part of one of the most famous folk bands in music history.

Yarrow co-wrote the group's most famous song, “Puff the Magic Dragon,” released in 1963, with Lenny Lipton. Between 1962 and 2004, Peter, Paul and Mary released 13 albums. It won five of the 16 Grammy Award nominations.

Yarrow and Stookey, now 87, continued to perform as a duo even after Travers passed away in 2009.

The March on Washington in August 1963 brought together American protesters against the Vietnam War. Peter, Paul and Mary sang Bob Dylan's song “Blowin' in the Wind” on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.

However, one of the most embarrassing moments in Yarrow's career came in 1969, when he was forced to serve a three-month prison sentence for an incident. Yarrow followed the 14-year-old girl and her 17-year-old girl to the front door naked. His sister knocked on his hotel room to ask for an autograph.
