Elon Musk said his company SpaceX will provide free Starlink terminals to the Los Angeles area affected by the devastating wildfires raging. Satellite internet service will help restore communications in areas destroyed by ongoing fires.
“SpaceX will be providing free Starlink terminals to affected areas in Los Angeles tomorrow morning,” Musk said in a post on X on Thursday.
Musk responded to a post by X user Sawyer Merritt, who wrote, “TV crews are using SpaceX's @Starlink to broadcast fire coverage in LA.”
“The only reason you can see us now is because of Starlink. There's no cell phone service at all in this entire region,” Merritt added.

As Breitbart News reported, the wildfire broke out Tuesday morning and spread rapidly due to strong winds, forcing residents to evacuate, causing the destruction of historic homes and displacing tens of thousands of people.
Thursday marks the third day of California's devastating wildfires.
As of this writing, there are five wildfires burning simultaneously. According to , they are located in the Pacific Palisades, Sunset, Eaton, Hearst, and Lydia areas. calfire.
The Palisades, Eaton and Hurst fires all started on Tuesday, while the Sunset and Lydia fires started on Wednesday. Currently, the Palisades Fire, Eaton Fire, and Sunset Fire are all listed as having a 0% containment rate, while the Hearst Fire is 10% contained and the Lydia Fire is 40% contained.
The raging Palisades Fire has burned 17,234 acres, and the Eaton Fire has burned 10,600 acres as of this writing, according to CalFire reports.
Five people have also been confirmed dead, one of whom was identified Wednesday morning as 66-year-old Victor Shaw, who died while trying to protect the home that had been in his family for nearly 55 years.
