This week, a video of an Altadena family singing Christian hymns over the rubble of their Eaton fire-scorched home just north of Pasadena, a Los Angeles suburb, went viral online.

According to the family, the home belonged to the Halpin family, who reportedly lived there for more than 35 years and raised six children and many more grandchildren. GoFundMe pagehas raised over $60,000 since this article was published.
“Our parents bought that home more than 35 years ago, and for those 30 years it has been a center of hospitality, joy, support, and family love for a wide and deep circle of people, and many others. Like others, they have lost absolutely everything,” said a GoFundMe page set up by his son Peter Halpin.
The Eaton Fire damaged or destroyed more than 4,000 structures in the Altadena/Pasadena area and killed five people, according to KCRA.
