As Southern California continues to battle raging wildfires, the NFL announced it will donate $5 million to wildfire relief efforts.
“Located by individual donations from clubs and ownership groups from the Los Angeles Chargers, Los Angeles Rams, Minnesota Vikings, Houston Texans, and NFL Foundation, these funds will support those affected by the wildfires. It will provide vital funding to local organizations.” the NFL said in a statement Friday.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said: “We are saddened by the devastating loss so many people have experienced in the Los Angeles area and are inspired by the heroic acts of first responders and residents who have assisted their neighbors. ” he said.

As of Friday morning, more than 10,000 buildings had been destroyed, officials confirmed. Officials also confirmed that the Palisades, Eaton, Kenneth, Hearst, and Lydia fires have set more than 27,000 acres on fire across Los Angeles.
The Vikings and Wilf Family Foundation announced a $1 million donation to relief efforts. Brothers Gigi and Mark Wilf and their cousin Leonard Wilf own the Vikings.
“The Vikings and Wilf Family Foundation are making a $1 million donation to support local relief efforts in communities affected by the California wildfires.” Vikings statement Said.

Also on Friday, the Houston Texans confirmed a $1 million donation to “provide support and resources to those affected by the wildfires.”

SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif., was originally scheduled to host Monday's NFC Wild Card Round game between the Rams and Vikings. However, due to continued wildfires in the area, the NFL moved the game to State Farm Stadium, home of the Arizona Cardinals.

A fire broke out several miles away from the Rams' practice facility in Woodland Hills, Calif., on Thursday, with smoke visible from the team's practice facility, ESPN reported. The Rams and Chargers are scheduled to play a playoff game this weekend, and both teams practiced outdoors on Thursday. Some Chargers players have chosen to wear masks during practice.
On Friday afternoon, ESPN reported that the Cardinals sent a Boeing 777 to Los Angeles to transport Rams players, staff, their families and several pets to Arizona. According to ESPN, the Cardinals are also offering their practice facility to the Rams. Adam Schefter.
On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Chargers announced that the team will provide $200,000 in targeted funding to the American Red Cross, the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, Team Rubicon and pet rescue organizations that protect animals displaced by wildfires.
