Cam Newton was known for his on-field brilliance during his playing days, but he's reached new heights on the new season of Fox's reality TV competition “Special Forces: World's Toughest Test.''
In the season premiere episode, Newton was seen taking off in a challenge that took him from a moving boat to a helicopter, and the former NFL quarterback became a hot topic on social media.
Newton was able to grab the helicopter's landing skid and pull into the helicopter, impressing the other contestants in the process.
Fellow contestant Stephen Baldwin said in the clip. I pushed my body into the helicopter. ”
Newton is one of 16 contestants taking part in the show's third season.
The show features celebrities taking part in military training-style competitions, and many of the contestants are former athletes.
Other contestants include former NFL receiver Golden Tate, former Olympic swimmer Nathan Adrian, surfer Alana Blanchard, soccer player Landon Donovan, motorsports legend Carey Hart, and former track and field athlete. They include Marion Jones and former Olympic gymnast Jordyn Wieber.
Also among the contenders is influencer Kayla Nicole, who previously dated Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce.
Newton played 11 seasons in the NFL, 10 with the Panthers and one with the Patriots.
Newton was the No. 1 overall pick out of Carolina in 2011 and led Carolina to a Super Bowl appearance in 2016, losing 24-10 to the Broncos.
The QB won NFL MVP in the 2015 season and was selected to the Pro Bowl three times during his career.
Although Newton hasn't officially retired, he hasn't suited up in an NFL game since 2022.
He appeared in eight games in his final NFL season, starting five of them, and completed 69 passes for 684 yards and four touchdowns.
