In response to the Los Angeles wildfire crisis, the fire chief has asked homeless people to turn off fires to keep them warm.
Los Angeles County Fire Chief Anthony Malone commented. meanwhile He is updating reporters on the Pacific Palisades and Eaton fires, two of the largest of the four fires raging in Southern California.
“Anyone experiencing homelessness should seek shelter.”
Marrone said some power to residents was cut off to prevent further fires from the downed power lines.
“I want to remind all Los Angeles County residents who live in wildfire-prone areas that if a power line goes down, a necessary public safety power shutoff will prevent another fire from starting,” he said. I hope you understand.''
“We ask that our unhoused neighbors be spared from global warming fires,” he said. “Anyone experiencing homelessness should seek shelter through Los Angeles County or the City of Los Angeles.”
A video of Mr. Marrone's comments was posted on social media, where he was mocked and ridiculed by many.
“Using all the woke buzzwords to 'ask' literal meth maniacs who politely burn random trash to stop arson, it's emblematic of everything that's wrong with California.” read One reply.
“This mindset is why Los Angeles is burning and why it's getting worse.” answered Another critic.
“The meth chief doesn't watch the news. We need LAPD patrols and officers to be sent to alert people that there will be arrests for arson.” said Another critic.
“Why don't you drug addicts and vagrants stop lighting fires and burning down our cities and states, or you'll go to jail.” provided A certain critic.
24 people were killed and 16 are missing. More than 12,000 homes and businesses were destroyed. Local lawmakers have slammed the report, which documents incompetence that hampered the emergency response and exacerbated the devastating disaster.
“This was a completely unprecedented event for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.” said Marrone in an interview with CBS News.
