Tiger Woods acknowledged the obvious after Jupiter Links Golf Club suffered a blowout in his TGL debut on Tuesday.
“My game isn't very good,” he said.
Los Angeles Golf Club won 12-1, giving TGL a big win for the second week in a row. As he said, Woods didn't have the best. He airmailed a wedge into a second virtual hole and found water in another virtual hole. But he wasn't the only one struggling. A similar statement could be made about teammate Kevin Kisner, who created a viral moment that will never be surpassed.
On the 14th hole, Kisner hit a cruel shank out of the bunker that hit the flagstick, causing Woods to fall over and die laughing. Max Homa also couldn't breathe. Kisner's shot made a loud noise. It comes off the flagpole. He then nearly holed his comeback car, which would have been an out-of-this-world par save.
“That was one of the funniest moments I've ever seen, Kiss hitting a shot like that,” Woods said.
“We were just about to die.”
Unfortunately for Kisner, he had some other low moments as well. He took many shots short and to the right, occasionally finding the virtual penalty area.
“It's a weird feeling to be standing there. It was 100 yards, one time it was 55 yards, and you're just looking at a huge screen and it's completely different,” Woods said.
“We can learn from that and hopefully in the next few weeks we won't be hitting so many balls into the penalty area and we'll be playing better.”
If Woods' team wants to play in future TGL matches, it will need to regroup. They performed poorly in their debut, but at least they entertained golf fans around the world. Woods' entrance music got a lot of attention, and so did Kisner. Kisner also offered to replace Charlie Woods, who had a hole-in-one at last month's PNC Championship.
No wonder NBC Sports offered Kisner a full-time analyst position. He is cheerful and knows what to say and how to act according to the moment. He was the star of the show even though Collin Morikawa, Sahis Segala and Los Angeles' Justin Rose dominated the team.
“[Woods] This will not satisfy you. I know he's not going to be happy about this,” Segala said.
“He's going to work really hard to make sure something like this never happens again. I can almost guarantee something like this will never happen again. They're going to bring it. But with Tiger. I'm glad there's one small thing. It's really nice.”
