President Biden set to deliver farewell speech to the nation

President Biden is scheduled to deliver a farewell address to the nation Wednesday night as he concludes his four-year term in the White House.

Biden released a farewell letter to the country early Wednesday and is scheduled to speak from the Oval Office at 8 p.m. ET.

“Four years ago, we stood in a winter of danger and a winter of possibility. We were facing the worst pandemic in a century, the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, and the worst attack on democracy since the Civil War. We were facing a war,” Biden wrote.

“But as Americans, we came together and braved it. We came out stronger, more prosperous, and more secure.”

Mr. Biden will officially leave the Oval Office on January 20, and President-elect Trump will be sworn in as the 47th president of the United States around noon on the same day.

“I ran for president because I believed the soul of America was at stake. The very essence of who we are was at stake. And that's still the case. ” he added in his farewell letter.

Ahead of his final address to the United States, Biden also delivered a farewell speech focused on foreign policy at the State Department on Monday.

“The United States is more globally competitive than we were four years ago,” Biden said in his final foreign policy speech on Monday.

He added: “America is stronger. Our alliances are stronger, but our adversaries and competitors are weaker.”
