Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley shared a close bond during their time with the Giants, and that doesn't seem to have changed even though the two are no longer teammates.
Jones was on Sunday when Barkley rushed for 205 yards and two touchdowns in the Eagles' 28-22 win over the Rams in the NFC divisional round. He had scoring runs of 62 and 78 yards, the latter being the winning score.
The former Giants starting quarterback was a guest in Barkley's box at Lincoln Financial Field, along with former Giants receiver Sterling Shepard. According to ESPN.
According to the report, the two were “among the people inside the box cheering on their best friend.”
Barkley and Jones spent five seasons as teammates in New York, with both players entering (at the time) career years in 2022.
The running back had a career-high 1,312 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns, while Jones had a career-high 67.2 percent completion rate and a career-high 3,205 passing yards.
Neither ultimately remained with the Giants, with Barkley leaving as a free agent last offseason and Jones entering the second year of a four-year, $160 million extension in 2023. He will be released midway through this season. .
But after Jones and the Giants went their separate ways in November, Barkley had kind words for him.
“I have nothing but great things to say about him. You're not going to find anyone who would really say a lot of negative things about him,” Barkley said. “But that's the NFL. Hopefully, wherever he goes next, they'll find a guy to come in and work. [Coming from the Giants],I'm fine [with the Eagles]. Hopefully he can get a similar fresh start and find success. ”
Barkley has a chance to secure his first Super Bowl appearance next weekend when the Eagles host the Commanders in the NFC Championship Game.
