Trump tosses pens to audience after signing executive orders on climate change, free speech, inflation, and others

Newly sworn-in President Donald Trump has made good on his promise to issue a slew of executive orders on the first day of his second term.

After taking the oath of office, the president signed the order in front of a large audience at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.

“With these actions, we will begin a complete restoration of America and a revolution of common sense.”

At one point, someone in the audience yelled for the president to give him a pen, and the president seized the moment and began throwing pens at his supporters, who erupted in explosive applause.

President Trump signed nine executive orders. include It would pull the U.S. out of the Paris climate accord, freeze hiring for most federal employees except for the military, and require federal employees to return to full-time, in-person work.

Other orders called for an end to censorship in defense of free speech, called for an end to the “weaponization of the government against political opponents of the previous administration,” and directed government ministries to combat inflation.

Former Vice President and Climate Change Activist Al Gore answered President Trump's order to withdraw from the Paris Climate Change Agreement.

“These performative acts demonstrate that the fossil fuel industry will have far-reaching impacts on the United States over the next four years. But make no mistake, the global sustainability revolution is unstoppable.” wrote in a lengthy statement on social media.

“If the new government does not take the lead on this issue, it will be the responsibility of all of us,” he added. “Now is the time for governors, mayors, business leaders, investors, and activists to put their heads down and work to advance the climate solutions that our country and the world urgently need.”

Trump also suspended 78 executive orders issued by Biden and blocked bureaucrats from enacting new regulations.

President Trump said he would eliminate birthright citizenship as well as release some prisoners held on charges related to the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol. Another order could reinstate the “Remain in Mexico” policy for immigrant asylum. It also ends diversity, equity, and inclusion policies.

“These actions will begin a complete recovery for America and a revolution in common sense,” President Trump said in his inaugural address. “It's all a matter of common sense.”
