Well before Donald Trump's long-awaited inauguration, he told us about his plans to pardon nonviolent January 6 prisoners who were victims of the Justice Department's assault on weapons.
Yesterday, he kept that promise and pardoned 1,500 people.
However, it appears that only two people were actually released from the D.C. prison.
glenn beck We spoke to Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) about this apparent resistance to President Trump's orders.
According to Senator Lee, that's true.
Glenn read Lee's recent tweets.
“Tell me what this means,” he says.
“What this means is that Congress needs to live up to its responsibilities. We have long had a problem with Congress delegating legislative power to unelected and unaccountable bureaucrats. “I'm here,” said Senator Lee. “We're supposed to be the representatives of the District of Columbia. … We've been delegating that power to the D.C. government for almost half a century, and the results have been disastrous.”
“Last night, as far as we know, after President Trump granted clemency to a number of prisoners involved on January 6th, only two people were released last night,” he told Glenn, adding that in Washington, D.C. He added that prison officials had actually “announced that there would be no pardons.” There will be no more releases. ”
Sen. Lee says this type of defiant behavior is unacceptable.
“They have names and are given pardons. They can identify the pardoned prisoners,” he charges.
President Trump has made it clear that these prisoners were supposed to be “immediately released,” so why weren't they released?
Sen. Lee says he is working to determine the exact cause of the delay, but one thing is clear: “This is yet another reason to reconsider D.C.'s autonomy rules.” That's true.
Senator Lee is seeking to completely repeal this bill.
