Tom Homan reveals how many illegal immigrants were picked up by ICE on first day of Trump administration

President Donald Trump's border czar, Tom Homan, told Fox News on Wednesday that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrested more than 300 illegal immigrants across the United States on the first full day of the new administration.

The raid, which was less restrictive than those carried out under the Biden-Harris administration, was one of many actions that U.S. voters had long anticipated after Mr. Trump took office again.

“What do I have to do to get a visit from ICE?” FOX News host Lawrence Jones asked.

“First of all, you're in the country illegally. So there's nothing in the immigration law that says you have to be convicted of a serious crime to be removed under the INA. ICE can visit you even if you are in the country illegally,” Homan clarified.

“Florida state and local officials will aggressively promote the Trump administration's policies against illegal immigration.”

Homan went on to reiterate that all illegal immigrants will once again be subject to deportation, while the Trump administration intends to redirect current resources to pursue threats to public safety.

“And just yesterday, in the last 24 hours, ICE arrested more than 308 felons. Some of them were murderers. Some of them were rapists. Some of them were rapists of children. There were sexual assaults against children. So ICE is doing the following: They're prioritizing what the president said, and they're doing great on the ground right now. “I plan to continue doing this,” he continued.

Homan told lawmakers on Capitol Hill that the scope of the problem is so wide that a complete deportation operation would cost at least $88 billion. As some Democratic states work to oppose the operation, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) has asked the Florida Legislature to call a special session to pass legislation to support the Trump administration's efforts. I'm asking you to come in.

Among the measures he is seeking: funding for state and local law enforcement to join federal agents on a task force and the ability to use state facilities to house people facing deportation. These include making state assets available to repatriate illegal immigrants. of origin.

“President Trump was elected with a mission to stop illegal immigration and deport those already in our country.Florida state and local officials are aggressively implementing the Trump administration's policies toward illegal immigration. To do that, we need to immediately suspend and approve “we have the necessary funding and resources now,'' DeSantis explained at the time.
