president trumpHe is scheduled to make his first domestic tour of his second term today, flying to North Carolina and California to inspect disaster damage.
First, North Carolina:President Trump is visiting western North Carolina to see recovery efforts from Hurricane Helen, which caused extensive damage to the region in September. He accused Democrats of “abandoning” the state in the storm's aftermath. Trump won the state in November with just under 51% of the vote.
Then California: President Trump is scheduled to travel to deep-blue Los Angeles later on Friday to survey the damage caused by ongoing deadly wildfires. President Trump on Thursday floated the idea of including federal aid for Los Angeles as part of a larger settlement package, suggesting it could win over some Democratic votes.
Yes, but : President Trump has also threatened to withhold aid from California unless state leaders make changes to water management.
Trump has a rocky relationship with state governors, but gavin newson(D). Newsom said he plans to go to the tarmac today to greet the president.
And at the end of the trip :President Trump will do that. Stop in Nevada “Thank you for voting.” Trump won the Silver State in November by a 1.5% margin.
Read Julia Manchester and Alex Gangitano's report on the importance of this trip. “Trump's visit to California marks a pivotal moment.''

➤ New information from Trump — What will happen to FEMA?:
|
President Trump isFederal Emergency Management Agency(FEMA), raising questions about the agency's broader future.
“I'm also going to sign an executive order to begin the process of fundamental reform and overhaul or even abolish FEMA,” President Trump said at a roundtable in North Carolina. “Frankly, FEMA is not good.”
Before leaving for North Carolina this morning, he suggested an alternative. “I like…the concept that when North Carolina is affected, the governor will respond. If Florida is affected, the governor will respond,” Trump said, adding that the governor would be responsible for the disaster response in his state. He argued that it would be better to work on 📹 watch clip
please remember: if Kristi Noem Confirmed as Secretary of Homeland Security, she will be responsible for overseeing FEMA.

The annual anti-abortion rights rally “March for Life'' will be held in Washington today.president trumpFirst domestic trip to explore damage caused by natural disasters.
The marches always draw large numbers of social conservative activists, the very same people who helped Mr. Trump win the White House in November. Trump will likely address the crowd via video message, as he did in 2019, but vice president vanceHe will be in the spotlight as a representative of the government. Vance reprises his roleVice President at the time mike penceAlso appeared at the 2019 rally.

Abortion restrictions are a delicate balance for President Trump.
It's not his bread and butter. He has not prioritized an anti-abortion platform during his political career. Remember how he spent his timeavoided talking about itIn the middle of a campaign? He also personally suggested that at the beginning of 2024:supported a 16-week abortion banWith exceptions. Then he said:would not signNational abortion ban. And last fall, the first lady melania trumpexpressed support for abortion rights.
Abortion restrictions arenot mentionedDuring his inaugural address. In his first day of policy changes, he issued no executive orders related to abortion.
But there are also some more subtle nods.On Thursday, he pardoned about 22 anti-abortion activists convicted of blocking the entrance to an abortion clinic. Additionally, search results for “abortion” appear to have changed on the federal Department of Health and Human Services website.According to NPR.

The Senate is scheduled to hold a final confirmation vote this evening.pete hegsethPresident Trump's selection to head the Pentagon was a difficult one.
when?: 9pm ET 😅
Will he be confirmed? : Yes, he will be confirmed. Two Republican senators — lisa markowski (Alaska) and susan collins(Maine) – Despite voting against Hegseth on Thursday's procedural vote, he can afford to pick up three Republican “no” votes.
^ Incidentally, Trump said he was “very surprised” by Murkowski and Collins' “no” votes.
And then there's Kristi Noem's confirmation.: After Hegseth's vote, the Senate will hold a procedural vote on the South Dakota governor. Kristi Noem (R) has been nominated as Secretary of Homeland Security. If everything goes according to planher final vote could come Sunday morning.
