Police use DNA to tie 83-year-old man to 40-year-old cold case murder

Police arrested a 83 -year -old man more than 40 years ago in a cold incident with the killing of an elderly woman in Dallas more than 40 years ago.

Police Dallas announced on Monday the latest information on the arrest of 83 -year -old Willie Jones.

Police said that Jones was first arrested on January 16 for a violation of parole associated with sexual assault.

During his detention, the police collected DNA samples and said, “It was confirmed in connection with murder more than 40 years ago.”

A few decades after he reported her missing car found at the airport, a female defendant murder was arrested.

Police said Jones was accused of killing Virginia White, an elderly woman who died in Dallas in 1981.

Police confirmed that Jones was 40 at the time of the murder case, and White was 81 at the time of her death.

DNA ties California men to the 1979 cold case murder.

“Our detective is working hard to close the murder victim's family,” said Dallas Police Spokesman.

Police added that Jones was not a suspect of other murder investigations.

Before being arrested, Jones was required by several warrants in Dallas County.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the motivation of murder or the additional details of white death.

Police said Jones was facing the charges of murder and was being held in Dallas County Prison.

His bonds have not been set yet.
