Israel’s Netanyahu departs for US to meet with Trump, hoping to strengthen ties with Washington

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu headed to the United States on Sunday and met US President Donald Trump.

Netanyahu departed for Washington in a ceasefire with Hamas, including hostage release. He has been the first foreign leader who has visited Trump since his inauguration on January 20.

“The fact that this is his first meeting with foreign leaders since his inauguration is very important for Israel,” Netanyafu said in a statement.

Hamas will release three hostages, including US citizens, as part of a vulnerable ceasefire contract.

“First of all, it shows the strength of the alliance between Israel and the United States. Second, it also reflects the strength of our connections. Already a wonderful thing for Israel and the region. The Abraham agreement was led by President of the four Arab countries.

This was promoted by Hamas's attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, causing almost 16 months after the war in Gaza began, leading to military retaliation from the Israeli army.

“The decision we made during the war was combined with the courage of IDF soldiers, and we have already changed the Middle East,” Netanyafu said. “They have changed it even if they recognize it. We believe that by working with President Trump, we can change it even better.”

“Our decisions and the courage of the soldiers have redrawed the map, but we believe that we can work closely with President Trump to improve it further,” he added. 。

Netanyafu and former U.S. President Joe Biden have been nervous about the last administration in Washington, and have not visited the White House since the end of 2022.

“We can strengthen Israeli's safety and further expand the circle of peace, and we can bring a wonderful era we have never dreamed of. Prosperity, safety, and peace. The era is from the position of strength, “said Netanyafu. “Our soldiers, the strength of our citizens, the strength of Israel, the strength of the alliance between Israel and the United States.”
