Representative James Clyburn (D-SC) argued on Wednesday that Republican lawmakers have “abdicated” from the responsibility to properly function by moving forward with President Donald Trump's agenda on MSNBC's “deadline.”
Host Nicole Wallace said, “At least your counterparts in the Senate Republican Party willing to abdicate their advice and consent role to those who know they don't qualify for the role of their advice and consent,” he said. Are you happy to do it? People like RFK Jr.?”
Clyburn said, “Well, I think that's what we have to do. I'll let the American people know exactly what the problem is.
He continued. No, we don't have it. The fact in question requires 218 votes to control Parliament. There are no 218 on the democratic side. So the abdication here is that Congressional Republicans have abandoned their roles and their responsibility to function properly. If you see everything to the administration, you are not carrying out your responsibility to those who sent you here. ”
Clyburn added: “Our Democrats have the job of keeping them informed of exactly what's going on here and trying to make them realize that 218 is needed. After the last election, we've done it. We didn't get it. If people want to balance in this system, they'll probably give us the responsibility to have the next vote to get some balance to this administration.”
