After a massive deportation, MP Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (DN.Y.) warned those who voted based on grocery prices to “wait until the farm is empty.”
Democrats recently tackled the Trump administration's crackdown on illegal immigration through thousands of arrests and deportations made by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
With more attacks across the country, Ocasio-Cortez highlighted the risk of losing illegal immigrants as an “asset” of the US economy.
“But let's be clear, those who vote this way often don't respond to cases of compassion and humanity,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “Latin America” podcast on sunday. “So, if you want to wake up harshly about it, then the American immigrants and our immigrant communities, especially our immigrant communities, including millions of undocumented people in this country. Understand why America flourished, especially why we survived our community – the 19 pandemic.”

“For all those who vote based on grocery prices and inflation, if you think groceries are expensive right now, wait until the farm is empty,” she continued. “If you think your house is expensive now, wait until no one makes them. If you think someone in your home is caring for your sick mother or grandmother, you're out. And if you think it's expensive now at work, understand what immigration means.
She also criticized the argument that the administration focuses primarily on eliminating violent criminals.

“First and foremost, this idea of people being immigrants and illegal… we're talking about ourselves. This is the structure of our country, the structure of our community, and the structure of our people, and the people are saying, ” When you think it's okay, they just need to be legally here, “they're closing all legal pathways,” Ocasio-Cortez said.
She claimed that Trump had “hospitable” towards immigrants and the Latino community, but Trump achieved a significant position among Latino voters in the last election. Among Hispanics, he reached 41% of the demographic, improving his number by six points.
Ocasio-Cortez suggested this was due to the Trump campaign's community division and “right-wing misinformation.”

“I tell you in our community, the anger was, “We need to deport immigrants.” The anger was in fact the Trump administration and campaign was in fact very surgical and very sophisticated about drawing a wedge between undocumented people and recent arrivals and asylum seekers.” said Ocasio-Cortez. “That responsiveness exists because there is no movement in the path to citizenship.”

“The amount of misinformation that exploded as people chasing false retweets was really painful,” she added. “We are on billionaires platforms, especially from a social media perspective. These billionaires change these algorithms and wield them politically.
