(AFP) – Actor Cara Sofia Gascon said Oscar for her hit Netflix Narco-Musical “Emilia Perez” after her offensive past social media posts hit the glory potential It appeared to be retreating from the campaign on Friday.
Gascon, the first trans woman to be nominated for Best Actress, played the boss of a Mexican cartel in the film, earning a record number of Oscar nominations for foreign language films.

Gascon said this week that the film's French director Jacques Audide made the decision after what was called “unforgivable” and “absolute hatred.”
“I did my job for the film, for Jack, for the cast, for the incredible crew worthy of it, for the beautiful adventures we all had together, I decided to let him talk for him,” Gascon wrote on Instagram.
“I would like to sincerely apologize to everyone who was hurt along the way,” the Spanish who wrote in English added.
Gascon stars as a drug cartel boss who returns to life as a woman and turns his back on crime in a very rare musical thriller.
Filmed in France and set in Mexico, most of the Spanish films were nominated for 13 Oscars, 11 Bafta (the UK equivalent of Oscars), and 12 Cesars in France.
It won four Golden Globes in January, including Best Comedy and Musical, and won multiple awards at last year's Cannes Film Festival.
Before the scandal broke, Gascon was considered the forefront of Oscars and the best actresses of experts, and the film was considered a strong contender for the best photography award.
A Hollywood trade dealer has reported that Netflix, who had banked with “Emilia Perez” for Oscar's first best photo, dropped her from the campaign, and distanced herself from the best actress candidate I did.
