Accused Salman Rushdie stabber Hati Matar says ‘Free Palestine’ as he heads into court

Author Salman Rushdi walked to court on Monday and accused author Salman Rushdi of making “Free Palestine” blur.

Hatty Mathal, a 26-year-old New Jersey man who allegedly tried to kill a writer in upstate New York in 2022, issued a statement as reporters roamed at Chatouka County Courthouse in Mayville, New York But otherwise it would be quiet.

Mathal stormed the stage, stabbing Rushdi at least 10 times at a literary seminar at the local Chautauqua facility in August 2022, blinding the 77-year-old novelist in one eye and suffering from nerve and liver damage.

He pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and attempted assault.
