The 11-year-old French girl was found dead in a woodland near her school hours after she went missing, officials said on Saturday.
The girl, identified as Louise, disappeared on her way home from André Mauroi Middle School in northern France around 2pm on Friday, officials from the Epinai Sluhe commune said. The épinay-sur-orge is located south of Paris.
Investigators searched the forest using chasing dogs, helicopters and drones before finally finding the girl's body. Reported by Le Parisien.
“It was a great feeling to learn that Louise's body had not been born that night at Bois des Templiers,” police wrote in French in a press release posted to Facebook. “As soon as her loss disappearance was reported, all measures were deployed to find her.”

The autopsy determined she suffered from “many wounds committed by sharp objects,” said eVry prosecutor Gregoire Durin. The murder weapon was not immediately recovered.

Police have detained a 23-year-old man and his 20-year-old girlfriend seen in security footage walking behind Louise, according to a French news outlet. Police released the pair from custody later Saturday.

French Minister of Education Elisabeth Born has issued a statement on X regarding the death of a child.
“After the discovery of young Louise's body in Essonne last night, I would like to express my sadness to her family, my loved ones, classmates and teachers,” she wrote in French. “I rely on investigators and the judicial system that shed light on this tragedy.”
