Live updates: Courts slow White House moves; Trump tees up steel, aluminum tariffs

President Trump said he announced 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum on Monday, adding that he would kick off mutual tariffs in a few days as well. When asked which countries will be affected by which countries, Trump said steel and aluminum tariffs will affect “everyone.”

The move holds back the day it saw the White House's actions slow again by the courts.

A federal judge in Rhode Island ordered the Trump administration on Monday to comply with his order to remove federal grants after several Democrats' attorney generals allegedly had not met the order. And a third federal judge indefinitely blocked Trump's executive order to limit his birthright citizenship.

The Senate will return late this afternoon when Tarshi Gabbard's appointment to Director of National Intelligence appeared in the procedural vote. One of Trump's most controversial candidates, she managed to advance the committee with a partisan vote last week.
