According to a senior official from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Trump administration is considering taking on and supporting Internal Revenue Service (IRS) agents and supporting illegal immigration enforcement efforts.
The DHS has sent a letter to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent calling for the IRS to provide agents to be used in immigration enforcement efforts by Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE).
A senior DHS official said the request is expected to be approved.
DHS secretary Christie Noem, who signed the letter, told her agency that President Donald Trump had said, “To supplement all the personnel available to secure southern borders and enforce US immigration laws.” “We have instructed appropriate measures to be taken.” Performs immigration functions on behalf of federal government employees.

Through the implementation of Trump's orders, NOEM said it has secured partnerships with many law enforcement officials who have agreed to help the DHS implement the president's immigration agenda.
For example, DHS represents law enforcement agencies of the Department of Justice law enforcement, members of the Texas National Guard, and law enforcement officers of the Texas Attorney General's Office.
“Even if these resources are available, there is still more to fully implement the executive order,” Noem writes. “It is the understanding of DHS that the Treasury has qualified law enforcement agencies available to support immigration enforcement, particularly in light of the recent increase in the Internal Revenue Service's workforce and budget.”

Noem also provides agents who help employers target illegal employment practices to investigate human smuggling and human trafficking rings, asset seized, contract monitoring, concerns, detention and withdrawal. They called for it to be a target.

The DHS and the IRS did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comments on the issue.
The IRS is responsible for collecting taxes and enforcing related laws, but its criminal investigators work to clarify drug trafficking, money laundering and corruption.
