Brother of Parkland shooter charged with trespassing at Virginia schools

Authorities say the brother of Parkland gunman Nicholas Cruz was arrested last week for trespassing at three Virginia schools.

Zachary Cruz, 24, was first seen at the Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center Complex in Fishersville on Jan. 25, the County Sheriff's Office said in August. The incident prompted an investigation that includes the Sheriff's Office, Woodrow Wilson Police Department and Virginia State Police.

During the investigation, investigators reviewed surveillance footage from Augusta County Public Schools. On Jan. 25, the agency said it showed Cruz was in facilities at Wilson Middle School, Wilson Memorial High School and Valley Career and Technical Center.

“The footage shows Cruz approaching the outside doors, trying to open them, peer inside and showing his efforts to gain unauthorized access,” the sheriff's statement said. It's there.

Cruz was arrested on February 4th and charged with three misdemeanor trespassing.

The day after his arrest, the sheriff's office addressed a video that was live streamed on social media by Cruz's lawyers. Authorities say the cruise doesn't include it being present in school facilities in any county. Cruz was being held at Middle River Regional Prison when the video was filmed.
